Uttar Pradesh News: In a disturbing incident, the body of a seven-year-old girl was recovered from a mustard field on Sunday, a day after she was reported missing by her family members from a village in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. The family of the deceased child has alleged that she was raped before being murdered. According to the police, a claim is established and can be verified after the post-mortem report arrives.

According to police, at first glance it appeared that the girl had been strangled. The victim's family claims she was raped before she was killed, they said.

“The girl had gone outside to play with her friends around 12 noon. After she did not return for a long time, her family members approached the police,” said Senior Superintendent (SSP) Rajesh Kumar Singh, quoting details provided by the family in their missing persons complaint.

A missing complaint was filed and a police team started a hunt for the girl with the help of a dog squad, SSP said.

The senior officer said that the Kotwali Dehat police station received information around 8.30 pm on Saturday that a 7-year-old girl was missing from her home in a village in the district since 12 noon.

Police followed the dogs' trail and recovered the girl's body from a mustard field near the village on Sunday, he said.

Four teams have been formed to uncover the incident, the SSP said, adding that the girl's body has been sent for post-mortem and the report will clarify whether the victim was raped before the brutal murder.

5-year-old killed in festive shooting in Banda

Meanwhile, in related news, a five-year-old boy was killed in a festive fire in Banda district of the state, police said.

According to police, the incident took place in Mataundh area of ​​Banda district when the suspect, Prateek Shukla, fired shots from a katta (nationally made pistol) during a family gathering.

“A minor boy, Shambhu Shukla, who was attending a family function, was killed in a celebratory shooting on Saturday night,” ASP Lakshmi Niwas Mishra said.

ASP Mishra said the accused, Prateek, has been arrested and police have lodged an FIR against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Mataudh police station.

The officer said the child's body has been sent for post-mortem examination and added that further investigation in the case is underway.
