Uttarakhand New Recruitment Rules: The Uttarakhand government has made changes in the rules for dependents of deceased government officials. The newly introduced changes will enable the family members to apply for a suitable job in Group D or Group C posts i.e. the post of Junior Assistant or an equivalent post. According to a government order dated December 28, amendments have been made in the Uttar Pradesh Rules for Recruitment of Family Members of Government Servants Dying in Harness, 1974 (Adaptation and Modification Order, 2002).

The amended rules, titled the ‘Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Recruitment of Dependents of Government Servants Dying in Harness Rules, 1974) (Amendment) Rules, 2023’, have come into force immediately, the order said, news agency ANI reported.

Spouse or a family member who is not employed by the central government can apply for suitable employment in Group D or Group C

As per the updated rule, any state government or a government controlled company can apply for a suitable job with the Group if a government servant dies in harness after the commencement of these rules and the spouse or a relative who is not employed by the central government . D or Group C, such as the position of Junior Assistant or its equivalent. This relaxation in normal recruitment rules is subject to the applicant meeting educational qualifications, being otherwise qualified for government service, and submitting the application within five years of the death of the government servant, the order said. The amendment emphasizes on placing such employment, where possible, within the same department where the deceased government official was previously employed, with the aim of providing support and opportunities to the relatives of the deceased government officials.
