Vick Hope has paid a heartfelt tribute to Radio 1 co-presenter Jordan North after it was announced he was quitting after 10 years with the broadcaster.

Taking to Instagram, Vick, 34, shared a slew of throwback snaps and clips of the pair together, describing him as a “legend” and an “incredibly special friend.”

However, the DJ, who has co-hosted the Going Home show with 34-year-old Jordan since 2021, admitted she was disappointed not to be able to provide a “proper on-air broadcast” ahead of his abrupt departure.

She wrote: 'Absolutely gutted, to be honest. Our @jordannorth1, you are a true @bbcradio1 legend, a dreamy co-host and an incredibly special friend. There are too many memories for these collages, but we laughed so much.'

'Thank you for sharing your humor and your warmth; your stories, your skills and your mind. Going home with Vick and Jordan was such a crazy, chaotic ride.”

She continued, “I've enjoyed being with you on this journey for a while, and I will always support and encourage you as you embark on the next chapter.”

“You are about to rise, everyone will love you as much as we do, please take care of yourself out there. And keep the tunes coming.”

“I'm so sad that we didn't get a proper on-air broadcast, but I think the (inadvertently, accidentally, in the right way) killing of Judge Jordan will have to serve as a radio farewell this week.”

Before adding, “To our listeners: thank you for being with us every day and being the heart and soul of the show. Let's welcome the lovely, brilliant @jamielaing with open arms and all have a great time together.'

Following Jordan's big announcement, it was revealed that Jamie Laing, 35, will take his place – Monday to Thursday, 3.30pm to 6pm – alongside Vick.

The presenter has stepped down after a decade at the broadcaster to reportedly replace Roman Kemp as host of Capital Breakfast.

Jordan has since taken to Instagram to thank his 834,000 followers for their positive reaction to the news.

Jordan shared an album of throwback snaps from his time at the station and captioned his update: “Hello everyone.

'I really hope this was your decision @jordannorth1 and that it means bigger things for you – we love you and will miss you very much xx.'

“You will be missed.”

Roman will reportedly leave Capital Radio after seven years co-hosting the station's breakfast show with Chris Stark and Siân Welby.

According to sources, Jordan will replace Roman.

Insiders revealed to The Sun that Jordan had signed a big money deal with the rival broadcaster.

The source said: 'Jordan is moving to Capital FM to replace Roman and he couldn't be more excited. It's absolutely huge for him and although it's difficult to leave the BBC, he's excited to get to work with Capital.

“Jordan's decision was a tough pill to swallow for the BBC, but there was nothing they could do to change his mind.”

MailOnline has contacted Jordan, Roman and Capital for comment.
