Taking to social media, the seller listed her tips and tricks that work for her, as well as the brands that seem to be a firm favorite among fashionistas.

Price higher

We all know that cash-strapped shoppers will do their best to bargain for a lower price, which means you’ll make less money.

To prevent this, Vinted’s professional salesperson advised offering your clothing and second-hand goods at a ”slightly higher price than you would actually want for them”.

“If I want $10 for the item, I’ll offer it for $15 and sometimes you get a nice surprise when it sells for full price and you get more money.”

List in groups

Another tip the savvy shopper in the video swore by was advertising products in groups.

”What I mean by that is I’m going to offer similar items at a similar time to encourage purchasing bundles.

“For example, if I have a few dresses that are the same size and a similar style, I’m going to list them all at once.”

According to the woman, most people on Vinted will shop based on the ”Newest” first – and if they see all your items next to each other, chances are they’ll pack them all too.

Know the peak times

Another big reason why you might not be generating as much revenue as everyone else is because you don’t know when customers most often log into the app.

“I find that if I list the items on the weekend, especially on Sundays or in the evening, I can sell much faster.”

Brands that make a profit

In all her experience selling second-hand clothing items, the savvy shopper has also noticed that some brands sell better than others.

These, she revealed in another video, include Reiss, Sandro, Sweaty Betty, Zara, TU at Sainsbury’s, as well as Ralph Lauren and Karen Millen.

”Which brands do you like to sell again and again? These are a few of my favorites that I regularly make good profits from… they’re not always designer or high-end brands.”

Fellow shoppers flocked to the comments to share what helped them make the most profit, with one writing: ”A mention around ‘payday’ works for me too.”

Another agreed: ”My tip is to delete anything that hasn’t sold within fourteen days, take new photos and re-upload. Usually it is sold.”

Online marketplaces such as Vinted and Depop have millions of users in the UK and around the world, with the cost of living crisis only increasing their popularity.

Financial pressures in British homes saw sales of second-hand goods rise by 15 percent to £21 billion by 2022.

What are the new Vinted rules?

Since January 1, digital platforms including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted have been required to share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

This is unlikely to affect you if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year, but companies must now pass your details to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn more than £1,700.

It’s part of a broader tax cut to ensure those who increase their income through side hustles pay what they owe.

Although your details will not be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you will still have to pay tax as normal.
