A man who has visited every Wetherspoon pub in the country but one will visit the latest branch this weekend – after having to book a flight to complete his mission.

David Bingham, 60, from West Hallam, Derbyshire, has visited 875 of the company’s pubs as of 2019.

He only has one pub left to visit, and that’s in the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport.

David, who spent more than £20,000 visiting the pubs, including 40 now closed, will have to pass through airport security to get a pint at the Flying Horse, completing the list.

David’s partner Una Cooper, 63, bought him a Wetherspoon guide in 2019 and since then the retired forklift driver has been inspired to visit every branch in the UK and Ireland.

He once visited 14 of the sites in one day and last month took a 9 day cruise across Ireland to visit every Wetherspoon on the Emerald Isle.

David and Una often rely on public transport and have even used a hovercraft to access the pubs on the Isle of Wight.

Some of David’s trips to the branches took a few minutes and on one occasion he even booked a flight to Poland – which he didn’t get on – to get through security and access Heathrow’s Wetherspoon airport.

On one of his other excursions, David and his partner spent £69 each on flights from Heathrow to Manchester to check off the pub at the airport before catching a train back.

Last year, the pair went on a British Isles cruise that docked in Belfast.

‘My partner went to the Giants Causeway and I went to the three Wetherspoon pubs,’ said Mr Bingham. The sun.

‘There’s never a dull moment. It’s a great way to see the country.’

“If we were going to a new destination, I’d check out the Wetherspoons,” David said LadBible.

‘I’ve had a drink in most pubs, I’d say 85 per cent. I’m a lager boy, absolutely.

‘The one in Ramsgate [in the Royal Victoria Pavilion] is my favorite because the history behind that building is incredible.’

David added that he likes “architecture and buildings” and finds it amazing that Wetherspoon saves heritage buildings.

“There are five police stations, there are churches, there are chapels, there is a tram depot, there is a fire station,” he added.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon told FEMAIL: “We applaud David Bingham for his outstanding performance.

‘Many people like to visit Wetherspoon pubs in the UK and Ireland, but only a handful have visited them all.

“David now joins that select group.

“He has clearly put a lot of time and effort into achieving his goal and we thank him for his dedication to our pubs.”
