The most popular baby names in Australia for 2024: These are the top picks for boys and girls – and the ten parents refuse to pick
The top 100 baby names in Australia for 2024 have been revealed and while Isla topped the list for the girls, Oliver came out number one for the boys for the eleventh year in a row.
McCrindle Research published its annual report on baby names and there were some surprising changes this year.
Some names like Miles and Lottie made the top 100 for the first time, while others fell out of favor with Australian parents, including Jaxon and Claire.
In the boys’ division, Oliver continued his 11-year reign in first place, while Noah finished second again and Henry came third, bumping Leo down one spot to four.
The top 10 boys were shuffled, without any new names being added to the list.

Theodore jumped up two spots from seventh to fifth and Hudson went from eighth to sixth.
Luca, William, Charlie and Jack achieved seventh to tenth place in that order.
Isla has made a comeback to number one since 2022, dropping Charlotte, which reigned supreme for seven years from 2014 to 2021, to number three.
Amelia sat between them in second place and Olivia, Mia, Ava and Matilda retained their places in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Harper, Lily and Hazel make their entrance into the top ten for the girls who have to beat Ella, Grace and Willow from 2023.
Ten names entered the top 100 for the first time, including Miles, who made the biggest jump of all names, from 101 to 48.
Cleo rose highest in the rankings among the girls, rising from 44 places to 91.
The name proved popular among Gen Alpha parents, as Myles ranked 85th, while August just came in at #100.
Owen and Ollie were also newcomers among the boys and among the girls Lottie and Riley were on the list for the first time.
Kaia and Athena just got in after not even placing in the top 200 last year.
Boys’ names no longer in the top 100 are Ashton, Connor, Vincent, Elias and Jaxon, while Charlie, Jasmine, Claire, Gracie and Lilly have been removed from the girls’ list.
