Indy 500 prize money
The wallet of the winner has steadily increased in recent years. Newgarden earned $ 3,666 million in 2023 for his victory and that went to $ 4,288 million in 2024. His second victory sport included a bonus because he was a repeated winner.
Organizers only announce the details for the wallet after the race, but we have a good idea of what it could be. If Newgarden wins again, his wallet would be slightly larger than someone else’s because of another roller bonus.
All drivers can expect at least $ 3.8 million, which would be in the result of no increase last year and not a roller bonus.
The victory of Helio Castrones in 2009 set the record for the most prize money at $ 3,048 million, and the wallet of the winner remained in that total for years. Ericsson’s victory in 2022 broke that record to $ 3.1 million before Newgarden’s win.
