Sky Sports have the rights to broadcast the blockbuster collision, but one key figure has been banned for attending.

Manchester United legend and commentator Gary Neville has been denied access to the stadium – Sunsport brings you the reason why.

Why was Gary Neville banned from Nottingham Forest?

Neville is forbidden to comment on the city area for Forest’s Champions League decision maker against Chelsea this afternoon after the former right back of England, Evangelos Marinakis, struck.

Two weeks ago, the Sky Sports figure criticized the “absolutely scandalous” row on the forest leader with Boss Nuno in the last minutes of the 2-2 draw with Leicester on 11 May.

Marinakis was furious that the medical staff of Forest did not recognize the extent of the injury of striker Taiwo Awoniyi when the Nigerian collided with a post.

Awoniyi was then placed in an induced coma after surgery for a torn intestine.

When he saw the confrontation, Neville said: “What the forest owner has just done on the field on the city is absolutely outrageous.

“If I were Nuno, I would go and have a very strong word with him, because that is an absolute scandal.

“He just qualified them for a European competition, and from where that club was, and to be played with on that field for the fans of the club is an absolute joke.”

Neville later added: “Sandal from that forest owner. Nuno should negotiate with him tonight! The forest fans, players and manager don’t deserve that.”

Forest hit back and used the club’s social media accounts to implicitly accuse Neville of having “fake news online”, and added: “Uneven and poorly informed indignation for personal traction in the field of personal social media, no one should be the least of all injured players.

‘We call on these influential voices to show the same respect for players’ well -being that they often demand from others. Let the concern for comment.

“In Nottingham Forest we believe that the mental and physical well-being of our players and coaching staff must always take priority-over media stories, inflammatory judgments and certainly about self-promotion.”

Forest also stated that there had been no confrontation between Marinaki’s and the manager.

Sky let Neville booked this afternoon for the co-commentary on the city.

A spokesperson for the channel said: “Sky Sports was then informed by Nottingham Forest that Gary Neville would be refused the accreditation for the competition.

“This was an unprecedented and unwanted step.

“As a result, Sky Sports has decided to revise his production plans and made the decision to present the game of Sky Studios in West London.”

Neville has chosen not to participate at all in Sky’s broadcast of the game after he was prevented from giving co-commentary to the city.

It is expected that it will be replaced, where Sky chooses to still edit the competition coverage of the ground, although their show will now be presented from Osterley instead of Nottingham.
