Farida’s husband Noni, 55, became concerned that she had not returned home during the night and alerted other locals who began searching.

The last documented case of a human eaten by a python was in 2022also in Indonesia.

In that case, 54-year-old Jahrah disappeared while collecting rubber from a plantation in Jambi province before shocked locals two days later, on Sunday morning, October 23, found a giant python stretched out in a clearing among the trees with a large bulge in his stomach.

Anto, head of Terjun Gajah village where Jahrah lived, said the snake allegedly attacked Jahrah by biting her and then wrapping itself around her to suffocate her. She was then swallowed whole during a painful ordeal that would have lasted at least two hours from her head to her toes.

In 2018, another woman was eaten alive by a python. Mother-of-two Wa Tiba, 54, went missing while checking her vegetable garden on Muna island in Sulawesi province. A huge search was launched by the local population.

Her sandals and machete were found a day later – a giant python with a bloated belly lay about 30 meters away.
