This is the horrific moment a missing woman was eaten alive by a giant python after locals cut her from the snake’s belly.

Mother-of-four Farida, 50, disappeared while walking through the forest to sell food at a local market near her home in Kalempang village. Indonesiaon June 6.

The python sank its teeth into her leg as it coiled around her body, choking her before swallowing her head first.

Farida’s husband Noni, 55, became concerned that she had not returned home during the night and alerted other locals who began searching.

The next day they found a gigantic, six-meter-long python sprawled in the brush, with a large bulge in its stomach. His enormous head can be seen in a video of the scene, while his tongue flicks from his lips.

The villagers used a blanket to protect Farida’s modesty as they removed her from the snake’s stomach

The devastated husband and several villagers suspected the worst and cut through the thick skin with a machete.

Farida was buried in the snake’s stomach, covered in mucus. She was removed and taken for a religious funeral in Pitu Riawa District of Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi Province.

Noni said, “I will forever regret letting my wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her.

‘I feel sorry for the suffering she had to endure. I’m sorry for our family…

Suardi Rosi, head of Kalempang village where Farida and her family lived, said: “The victim’s husband was looking for his wife in the nearby forest area because she had not been home for a day.

‘He found a snake with a big stomach. He immediately suspected that his wife had been eaten by the python.

A python attack had never occurred in the village before, but local leaders have now warned people not to walk alone in the forest

‘This has never happened before in our village. We have warned everyone to be careful when walking through the forest. Women need to be guided by someone.”

Indonesia has a large population of wild pythons in the vast and dense jungle where they can thrive. Unlike neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, urban developments have not limited their growth.

The last documented case of a human eaten by a python was in 2022also in Indonesia.

In that case, 54-year-old Jahrah disappeared while collecting rubber from a plantation in Jambi province before shocked locals two days later, on Sunday morning, October 23, found a giant python stretched out in a clearing among the trees with a large bulge in his stomach.

Anto, head of Terjun Gajah village where Jahrah lived, said the snake allegedly attacked Jahrah by biting her and then wrapping itself around her to suffocate her. She was then swallowed whole during a painful ordeal that would have lasted at least two hours from her head to her toes.

In 2018, another woman was eaten alive by a python. Mother-of-two Wa Tiba, 54, went missing while checking her vegetable garden on Muna island in Sulawesi province. A huge search was launched by the local population.

Her sandals and machete were found a day later – a giant python with a bloated belly lay about 30 meters away.
