Emotional North -Ireland Triumph
Josh Rock burst on stage in tears after Noord -Ireland won a dramatic world cup of the last leg.
His team partner Daryl Gurney hit Double Eight to complete an Epic 10-9 victory on Wales in the final in Frankfurt last night (Sunday).
Rock, 24 and Gurney then fell on their knees on stage in scenes of incredible emotion while picking up their first world titles and an £ 80,000 jackpot.
He said: “When we said we were linked together, we will win. We did not expect to do it, but we did it.
“As a team we were fantastic. We fought completely hard.”
Debut debuts for the Dutchman
Gian van Veen personally had a great tournament, but could not completely bring his team to the trophy.
The disappointment will now be raw, but if he thinks about it, there is a lot that he can learn from it.
It should give him the confidence that when he is at his game, he now beats someone on the darts circuit.
Make a country proud
Northern Ireland has produced many good dart players over the years, but winning a World Cup requires something completely different.
In this tournament they came as fourth seeds, full of talent, but unable to produce it enough with the regularity needed to win titles.
Both players put aside the comments of the doubters and produced the best arrows of their career in Germany.
This victory is something special and this couple will party for a long time in the night, something that they have definitely earned this weekend.
