FANS have been left desperate this month by rumors that Xbox games will soon be available on other consoles.

The belief was that if Xbox lost its exclusive games, the company would soon stop making consoles.

In a recent podcast, Xbox confirmed that some games would be coming to other platforms, but that this wasn't the end for Xbox consoles.

While the games will be available elsewhere, Xbox claims it is committed to continuing to create new hardware platforms.

In the podcast, Xbox president Sarah Bond revealed: “There's more to come.

“We have some exciting things coming out in the hardware space that we'll be sharing this holiday. We have also invested in the next generation roadmap.

“What we're really focused on is delivering the biggest technical leap you'll ever see in a hardware generation, making it better for players and better for creators and the visions they build.”

The “holiday” Sarah is referring to is the holidays, which means our first look at Xbox's new hardware will take place in November/December of this year.

Speak with The edgePhil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said: “I'm very proud of the work the hardware team is doing, not just for this year but for the future.

“[We’re] I really think about making hardware that will be sold to gamers because of the unique aspects of the hardware.

“It's kind of unleashing the creative capabilities of our hardware team that I'm really excited about.”

While there are rumors that an Xbox handheld will be coming in the future, Spencer has previously expressed his concerns.

He claims that the weakness of most PC handhelds – outside of the Steam Deck – is that Windows is not the optimal operating system for playing games.

It appears that Microsoft would be working on an operating system specifically designed for handheld gaming before announcing a portable Xbox console.
