However, Mary tells him, “We have to go home. There was a tornado. Your MeeMaw's house is destroyed.”

They show footage of Meemaw and her boyfriend Coach Dale Ballard (Craig T. Nelson) driving to their house, stunned that it was completely destroyed.

Back in Germany, Sheldon protests, “Classes start tomorrow. I'm not going anywhere,” though Mary insists, “you're going home!”

'The German population is obsessed with rules and devoid of humor. I'm home,” Sheldon tells his mother.

The trailer ends with another scene where Mary tells Sheldon, “What I say counts,” but Sheldon uses a bizarre tactic: lying awkwardly on the couch.

When Mary asks what he's doing, Sheldon says, “Passive resistance.” Good luck lifting my limp body.”

CBS had issued a three-season renewal for the fifth, sixth and seventh seasons in 2021, although in November – just days after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended – it revealed that season 7 would be the last.

The final season premieres Thursday, February 15 at 8 PM ET, while the series finale airs Thursday, May 16 at 8 PM ET.

“It was an amazing experience to be able to tell the origins of Sheldon Cooper and expand the story to include the entire Cooper family,” said executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre.

“We are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers over the past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire Young Sheldon family, we are excited to share this final season with you,” they added.

The series was a prequel to another CBS hit, The Big Bang Theory, which ran for twelve seasons from 2007 to 2019.
