The sister of a young doctor stabbed to death after a home invasion says her grief has turned to anger as she begs the “cowards” responsible to come forward.

Dr. Ash Gordon, 33, was killed after a gang of thugs broke into his Sargent St home in Doncaster in Melbourne's east in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He had chased them out of his house and chased them in his car to Elidon St, about 500 meters away, where both he and the intruders left their vehicles and a fight broke out.

Dr. Gordon was stabbed several times during the fight, which ultimately cost him his life.

His sister Natalie Gordon appeared in Sunrise Tuesday morning, where she expressed her grief.

“I think it's been anger with me the whole time. “I'm obviously devastated, but also so angry that someone could do this to not only my brother, but any human being, any human being,” she said.

Mrs Gordon said her little brother had 'a big personality with a big heart'.

“His presence was known everywhere,” she said.

'He had a cheeky grin, a charm and charisma that had everyone wrapped around his little finger.

'He was the absolute apple of all our eyes. He was the center of our family and he was the youngest of five, but we all looked up to him.”

Dr Gordon's attackers are still on the run and no arrests have been made.

Frightened neighbors had called the police after hearing the commotion and a short time later Dr.'s body was found. Gordon finds out.

Dr.'s girlfriend Gordon told police his attackers stole a few items from the home, including laptops and shoes.

Mrs Gordon said that, having known her brother, she was not surprised to hear that he had tried to get his and his housemate's belongings back from the criminals.

She and her family now hope that those responsible for her brother's death will hand themselves over.

“Take the consequences and let us punish you,” she said.

'Because you can never imagine what we feel, what we go through. You took away a great doctor, a caring man and the best little brother.

“Now don't be a coward.”

The family of Dr. Gordon gathered outside his home on Monday and was seen removing his clothing.

'Mum and Dad are just muddling their way through the days at the moment. His girlfriend is heartbroken,” Natalie told reporters.

Dr. Gordon's father was seen with a stethoscope around his neck as the family gathered his belongings.

Housemate and close friend Tristen Standing said Dr Gordon was a 'brave man' who 'didn't think twice' about chasing the intruders out of the house.

“He was just a protector,” he said.

“He took care of his people. He didn't think about himself.'
