The course of true love has never been smooth — and it's definitely going to be a huge mission for the singles on TLC's brand new dating show Love & Translation, after they find out that none of the single women speak English.

In the upcoming show – premiering on January 21 – three American singles move in with twelve women from nine different countries in an attempt to find true love in an exotic location.

But during an exclusive first look, the three men are shocked to discover they can't communicate with any of them.

Tripp, a thirty-year-old California resident, is stunned by the revelation and frantically asks the group, “Does anyone know English?” Anyone at all? Doesn't anyone speak English?'

As the women stare at him blankly, he continues, “Body language. I talk to my body a lot… I know you can't hear me.'

The unexpected language barrier continues to send him into a tailspin in his confessional, during which he adds, “I'm literally speechless.

'No one can speak the same language. I can't talk, I can't listen. Speechless, listeningless.

'I don't know how to communicate, I'm trying to figure it out.

“I came halfway around the world for love, and this experience will be much harder than I expected.”

Fellow bachelor Dylan, 21, from Florida is equally shocked and clueless when potential partner Tulay reveals she is from Deutschland (Germany).

A confused Dylan asks in his confessional, “She says she's from Germany?”

A producer replies: “Do you know where Deutschland is?”
