BOMB blast detectives have found suspected British parts in Russian drones fired into Ukraine.
Last night an MP called it a “very worrying development”.
Ex-Colonel Andriy Kulchytskyi of the Kiev Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise showed us an engine from an Iranian Shahed-M drone engraved with English script.
He said he suspected some of the engines used for propulsion the drone were made in England – but the manufacturer would not have known that they could end up in a war zone.
Andriy said: “We initially thought the Shahed 131 engines were British, but we didn’t make it official. England is a good friend.”
Previous research has suggested that the engines have been reverse-engineered Iran from a British part.
Former Armed Forces Minister Mark Francois said: “It is still not confirmed that these engines came from Britain, but if true it is a very worrying development.
“We must assume that our own intelligence services are investigating this, with the intention of taking swift action if necessary.”
Irish parts, American and Swiss computer chips, Sony optics on one spy drone and antennas made in Canada have also been found by the Kiev laboratory.
