She said, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that heaven has gained a new angel this morning.

“Our beloved Cameron Bartholomew has passed away and we are in complete shock.

“Understandably, our hearts are broken and we are spending this time as a family supporting each other during this difficult time.

“We respectfully request privacy as we grieve and reminisce about the life we were so fortunate to share with Cam.

“For those who had the pleasure of knowing and being touched by Cameron's presence, commemorative details will be shared in due course.”

In addition to the touching words, Chloe shared a host of photos of the Hyundai Excel state champion.

They placed him on top of a race car after a win and pictures of him with his children.

Bartholomew's former co-driver Jayden James Peacock said: “Glad I had the opportunity to race Porsche with KPH Racing Crewing with Cameron years ago.

“We were both just babies, but we made some damn good memories. From that moment on we become good friends.

“I love you mate, rest assured. Our thoughts are with Chloe, the kids and family.”

And another driver, Brock Giblin, said: “Cameron Bartholomew was one of the first people I messaged 11 years ago when I first started racing cars. Losing him today is nothing short of crushing,” he wrote.

“My deepest condolences and thoughts go out to his family. I'm going to miss you so much buddy. #95Forever.”

Commenting on Chloe's heartbreaking post, one said: “He was a real talent behind the wheel and it was a pleasure for me to mention his racing.

“He was also a young buddy to many of us in motorsport and we enjoyed helping him with his challenges and helping him make a name for himself.

“There are so many people I've spoken to today who are incredibly devastated. He was a son, a husband and a father who had such an incredible future.”

And Track Attack Australia also shared a tribute to Brisbane driver Bartholomew – who was known as “Chicken Hawk”.

They said: “It is so sad to hear today that one of the very first TAA Excel families passed away suddenly last night.

“RIP Cameron 'chicken hawk' Bartholomew. Taken too soon and all our thoughts are with Chloe, their children, the extended Bartholomew family and close friends.

“Cam was a brilliant helmsman and a fierce competitor, but he sparked every conversation and always had a smile on his face.

“The TAA family would like to express its sincere condolences.”
