Big change to Covid rules coming to Scotland in DAYS

A MAJOR Covid rule has come into force almost two years after restrictions were introduced in Scotland.

The change will take effect on Monday for people in the greater Glasgow region.

Another major Covid restriction is likely to be lifted in Scotland

Women undergoing IVF treatment on the NHS no longer have to face the hassle Covid restrictions from next week.

This means that they can take partners to their locations medical appointments.

The change comes four months after people were allowed to visit all wards at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Until now, patients undergoing IVF have reported feeling unsupported and overwhelmed during consultations.

NHS Glasgow and Greater Clyde said it had to “strike a balance” between protecting patients and providing the best possible care.

Glasgow Health Board also apologized for any “distress or inconvenience” caused by the policy.

A spokesperson said: “While partners could accompany the patient to specific appointments, such as egg collections and pregnancy scans, to ensure we could maintain a high level of safety and maximize the number of patients we could see, we were limiting our partners. 'attendance at other, more routine appointments.

“We are aware of the problems this may have caused for couples using our services and would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

“However, we are pleased to announce that from Monday 8 August all restrictions at the Assisted Conception Service will be lifted and partners will be able to attend all appointments again.”

During the peak of the pandemicthere were limits on how long partners could stay in the department after birth.

Those who successfully became pregnant also had to go to appointments alone.

But these restrictions were lifted a few months ago.

Since April, visitors have been able to visit all hospital wards in Scotland without having to comply with any restrictions.
