Craig David has revealed he became celibate after previously boasting about his sex life in the 2000 single 7 Days.

The singer, 42, who is known for his womanizing ways, confessed that he is a changed man and is not currently dating.

Craig, who bragged about “making love on Wednesdays, and then Thursdays, and Fridays and Saturdays” in his hit single, revealed that he hasn’t had a romp in “maybe a year or so.”

Speaking to Louis Theroux on his podcast, the British songwriter said one-night stands can lead to “a lot of different traumas.”

The Rise And Fall singer hopes the sex break will allow him to mentally prepare for meeting his next girlfriend, as he wants to start a relationship from “a good place.”

He said: ‘Sometimes you gotta pull it back, man. I am now 42 years old, things are different.

If we can’t dive deep, if I can’t hold a conversation and laugh like crazy with you at the same time, and see the beauty from within you, then we’re just gonna play the same game I’ve been playing since day one.

“I don’t want that anymore.”

Previously, Craig had some short relationships between his 20s and 30s, but he never found anything serious as he was afraid of getting hurt, as he did when he was only 16 years old.

He added, “I had never felt anything like it. My heart shut down a bit.’

It comes after Craig Leigh slapped Francis again for his ‘racist’ depiction of him on his Channel 4 sketch show Bo’ Selecta! earlier this year.

The singer has taken issue with the comedian, 49, better known as Keith Lemon on a number of occasions during their 20-year feud.

And Craig is once again furious about Leigh’s sketch show Bo’ Selecta!, which aired between 2002 and 2009, describing it as mere “ridicule.”

Leigh did impressions of Craig and other celebrities on the show, including Mel B and Trisha Goddard, and there were many instances of blackface.

Speaking of the series, Craig compared the impersonation of him to childhood bullying and said he moved to America to “escape” the reaction to it.

He told Leah Palmieri on the Spotify: Mic Check podcast: “[Bo’ Selecta!] kind of came at a funny moment, it was a comedy show, it was ridiculous, to be honest.

‘I’m very thankful it wasn’t translated overseas, it was quite UK based. Because the UK was like home to me, it hit home. At the time I didn’t really know how to react to it. This is home, this is my song, why is this coming at me?’

Bo’Selecta! saw Leigh perform as Avid Merrion, a celebrity-obsessed stalker in which the comedian did impressions of various stars using latex face masks.

The name is based on the title of Craig and Artful Dodger’s song Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta) and portrays Craig as a selfish Yorkshireman who owns a plastic peregrine falcon named Kes.

Leigh apologized to Craig, Mel B and Trisha in June 2020 for the way he caricatured black celebrities, and that same year made an agreement with Channel 4 to remove the show from their All 4 streaming platform after finding the skits inappropriate.

Speaking of the comedy show, Craig then compared it to school bullying and said it’s a “trauma” that stays with you through the years.
