Powerball Australia tricks that can help you increase your chances of winning as the jackpot increases

The chance to become a multimillionaire is up for grabs as a whopping $60 million is on offer in Thursday night’s Powerball.

This week’s Powerball draw offers the largest jackpot of any Australian lottery game so far this year.

The jackpot rose to $60 million after there were no first division winners in the last four games.

If only one person won Division 1 in this Thursday’s draw, The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said he would be this year’s biggest lottery winner so far.

“Australia’s biggest 2023 lottery winners so far are a woman from Echuca in Victoria and a man from Swan Valley – they both won $40 million each in separate Powerball draws earlier this year,” he said.

“We’ve had a steady stream of Powerball Division One winners so far this year, which means we haven’t seen the Powerball jackpot rise very high… until now.

“All Division 1 winners in this week’s Powerball draw would receive their prizes on June 30 – sure to end the financial year on a high note!”

Mr Hart revealed that most of the first division winners had chosen their own numbers this year.

“Interestingly, five of the eight Powerball Division One winning entries from 2023 so far are marked entries – where people selected the numbers on their ticket,” he said.

“This is the opposite of previous years, when QuickPicks – where the lottery terminal randomly generates the numbers on the lottery ticket – have scored the most first division wins.”

For those who want to pick their own numbers, The Lott found that 17, 7, 9, 2, and 28 were the most frequently drawn from the main loop, and 3 and 19 were the most frequently drawn Powerball numbers.

There are eight Division 1 winning entries that took home more than $154 million in prize money this year.

Three of these wins come from New South Wales, two from South Australia and one each from Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.

Mr Hart advised bettors to ensure they get their ticket before the draw closes.

“My best advice for anyone wanting a shot at winning Powerball this week is to make sure you have an entry in your hands before the draw closes at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday night,” he said.

Tricks to Help You Win the Lotto

Use system bets

A system bet allows gamblers to choose even more numbers than the standard amount in multiple combinations.

This dramatically increases the chances of a win, but it will cost bettors a bit more as more games are purchased.

System bets are popular with lotto syndicates that split the costs between the players.

Be consistent

To win the lottery, a player must defy the odds stacked against him, meaning the numbers he chooses don’t really matter.

According to the laws of probability, all numbers have the same chance of being drawn – however, there are ways to reduce the seemingly impossible odds.

Lottoland states that this probability decreases as more draws are played.

If a gambler plays every week, the overall lottery odds don’t change, but the odds of the player beating them do.

Choose the most suitable lottery for you

It is a good idea to choose the jackpot that best suits a gambler’s desired results.

Some players will try their best to win more money at higher odds, while others will go for lower jackpots with a higher chance of success.

Lottoland suggests joining a lottery syndicate to even out costs and play in other prize divisions that often pay out “juicy” amounts.

Two thirds of the people who hit the jackpot in 2021 bought their tickets from a recognized lottery and 10 were QuickPick winners.

Avoid system numbers

An example of using system numbers is choosing numbers that form a pattern on the ticket, from straight lines to complex patterns.

Lottoland says that this method of choosing numbers does not increase the chances of winning, as the results of the draw are always random.

Think about your lucky numbers

Lottoland analysis has revealed that the favorite of all 49 numbers chosen by hopeful bettors was 33, while the least common number was 13.

While there’s no way to scientifically prove that numbers are “lucky” and “unlucky,” it can be helpful to know which numbers are drawn most often.

For those who want to pick their own numbers, The Lott found that 17, 7, 9, 2, and 28 were the most frequently drawn from the main loop, and 3 and 19 were the most commonly drawn Powerball numbers.
