EasyJet passengers stranded after pilot refuses to take off due to 'funny smell'

PASSENGERS were forced to abandon their plane and become stranded after a pilot refused to take off due to a “funny smell”.

Kristin Beattie, 57, from Loughborough, said: “I was picked up in Geneva by someone who came from Orelle so I had to book him a hotel in Geneva.

“I only stayed until Sunday, so I had a whole day off our holiday went.

“It was after 9pm and the information board still said 'We will update you at 8.30pm'.

“On the plane they told us very quickly what was going on and that we weren't going anywhere, and at a quarter past ten we were still at the departure check-in desks.

'We've been sitting here like mugs.

“I just wanted to book a hotel, which I could have done hours ago, but they might never pay you back.”

The flight finally took off the next morning at 9:20 am.

EasyJet said it had provided hotels and coaches and that “safety is our top priority”.
