This malware is specifically designed to steal sensitive information such as Face ID details, bank account details and even text messages.

According to experts, the GoldPickaxe Trojan is an evolved version of the GoldDigger malware that previously targeted Android devices.

As of now, the GoldPickaxe trojan is targeting victims in Vietnam and Thailand.

However, this new variant could pose a significant threat globally, potentially endangering the financial security and personal data of millions of people.

The trojan spreads through Apple's TestFlight, a platform that allows developers to release beta versions of apps Telephone Arena.

However, Apple wised up to this and removed it, prompting the hackers to use a different method called Mobile Device Management (MDM).

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A Trojan horse virus is a type of malware that is downloaded to a system disguised as a legitimate program.

Typically, hackers use social engineering methods to hide the malicious code in legitimate software.

Once the software lands on your device, it can infiltrate discreetly to steal sensitive information.

HOW TO STAY SAFE

There are a number of ways that users can avoid coming into contact with malicious malware or Trojans.

To begin with, the user is advised to avoid downloading apps from outside the official Apple or Google app stores.

Always keep your phone's software up to date as updates often include security patches.

Never download a link or open an attachment from an email or text message that seems strange, suspicious, or unfamiliar.

It is also important to install an antivirus program on your device so that it can scan for any malware.
