Facebook users raging like app keeps making an 'annoying' noise

FACEBOOK fans are going “crazy” over a mysterious sound randomly pinging the app.

Users have complained about a “chirping” sound when scrolling through the social network on an iPhone.

“The latest Facebook app for iPhone makes noise when you scroll,” one person wrote.

“It makes me crazy.”

Another said angrily: “That noise Facebook makes while I scroll is the fastest way to make me quit that app!”

A third added: “Just turn off the chirping sound when I use the iPhone.

“It makes my brain hurt. It's already annoying with all those ads.”

Facebook has admitted that the noise is a “technical error.”

Andy Stone, Meta's communications director, said: “Are you hearing a chirping sound while scrolling through your Facebook feed on your iPhone?

'It's not you, it's us! And it is an unfortunate technical error that we are currently working to resolve.”

A fourth groaned: “Why is Facebook making all that extra noise??!”

This is how you turn off Facebook's chirping sound

Facebook is still working on a proper fix for the chirping sound in its iPhone app.

But there is a way to manually disable it for now.

Follow these steps or click play the video at the top of this page.

  • Open the Facebook app and tap the Menu button at the bottom right
  • Scroll down and select Settings and privacy
  • Then tap Institutions
  • Scroll down to Media
  • Disable the in-app sound switch
