A quote said to be from Delhi Capitals mentor Sourav Ganguly is going viral on the internet saying, “Mumbai Indians messed with Rohit Sharma. He made that franchise famous. We are ready to induct Rohit Sharma into our team.”

However, India.com discovered that this is a fake quote. Neither Sourav Ganguly nor anyone from the Delhi capital’s management has said anything like that. There were reports that DC had approached MI during the trade window for Rohit, but Mumbai turned it down, but no one from the DC camp made any comment against the Mumbai-based franchise or a possible swap of the Indian skipper.

During the IPL 2024 auction, a senior MI official confirmed that Rohit will be staying with Mumbai Indians. “Rohit isn’t going anywhere, and no player will. The news reports are completely fake and false. No MI player will leave us nor be traded by us,” a senior Mumbai Indians official told Cricbuzz on the sidelines of the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai.
