Spain’s royal family looked cozy as they dressed warmly to visit village communities this afternoon.

Queen Letizia, 51, looked chic in a blue and green fitted sweater as she toured the communities of Arroes, Pion and Candanal.

Meanwhile, her eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, 17, looked dapper in a dark denim shirt with a cream coat, and 16-year-old Infanta Sofia opted for a khaki utility-style jacket.

The three royal women accompanied King Felipe to tour the villages’ churches, each of which was honored with the Princesa de Asturias Awards.

The family outing follows last night’s awards ceremony in Ovieda, Spain, where Hollywood royalty Meryl Streep was honored.

The legendary American actress, 74, stepped up to receive one of the country’s highest arts honors as she was remembered for 46 years of film work, and she seemed elated as she was celebrated at the ceremony this afternoon.

The Princess of Asturias Foundation – which is committed to empowering individuals or organizations making notable achievements in the sciences, humanities and public affairs – praised the screen icon’s decades of achievements.

“Few actresses in American film history have the versatility of Meryl Streep,” said a statement on director Pedro Almódovar’s website.

‘She does it all so well and so naturally and truthfully. Meryl Streep is a truly worthy recipient of this year’s Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts.”

A message from Meryl herself at the time also read: ‘I am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award from one of the most gifted countries and cultures in the world.

‘My sincere thanks to Their Majesties and Her Royal Highness and I very much look forward to meeting them in October and spending time in their beautiful country.’

Yesterday, the actress exuded sleek elegance as she accepted her award in a textured black blazer with an artfully curved design.

The Mamma Mia star paired it with chic cigarette pants and a white and blue cheetah print top.

Meryl smiled as she chatted with Queen Letizia and her daughters at the prestigious event.

The royal, 51, wore an elegant pink power suit for the occasion, worn with a breezy white blouse.

The mother of two styled her auburn locks in a sleek, straight hairstyle and pinned her hair back, keeping the makeup simple and warm.

Her daughter Leonor seemed to take a leaf out of her mother’s book as she too enjoyed a warm, peach look in a pink dress.

The 17-year-old – whose birthday is later this month – opted for a floral print dress with buttons that cinched the waist, and paired it with nude heels.

She swept her blonde locks back into a collected bun. Meanwhile, her 16-year-old sister, Infanta Sofía from Spain, wore a sophisticated cream tweed mini dress.

It had buttons and elegant seams, which she paired with black slingbacks. The princess wore her caramel-colored locks down.

Elsewhere, King Felipe, 55, also cut a dapper figure in a pinstripe suit and purple tie.

It seems the whole family are fans of Meryl’s work, as they grinned with joy while speaking to the star.

The excited royals also posed for photos with the Hollywood icon.

Earlier this week, ahead of receiving her award, Meryl also seemed moved when she met acting students from the Superior School of Dramatic Arts (ESAD) in Gijon.

It appears the star arrived in Spain early this week and has been photographed at a number of events related to encouraging young people in the arts.

She also attended a ‘Sin Guion’ conference on Wednesday, with fellow Hollywood legend Antonio Banderas in attendance.

The Spanish royal family’s outing comes as Princess Leonor, who currently holds the title Princesa de Asturias and is heir apparent to the Spanish throne, is undergoing a three-year course at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza.

Although the princess appears to be growing up quickly, and her life indeed doesn’t match that of the average teenager in Spain, royal fans were pleased with some candid, light-hearted photos of the royal family earlier this week.

During a royal gala in Madrid, Leonor took selfies with guests at a reception at the palace after her debut at the National Day Parade.

The Princess of Asturias talked about her training at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, thus Hello!.

She also took a photo with the winners of the Princess of Girona Foundation, as well as with a model from Madrid Pamela Montoya Pellicer.

Leonor also had his photo taken with Begoña Arana, director of non-profit organization Betania, as well as Tomás Alía, member of the Michelangelo Foundation in Spain and 34-year-old businessman Osuman Umar.

The future queen of Spain, who will reach the milestone on October 31, has been making solo appearances and training at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza to ensure she is ready for her future in the monarchy.
