As the eventful year 2023 comes to an end, India welcomes 2024 with great enthusiasm and joy. The past year has proven to be important for India on both a national and global level. The G-20 summit met in the national capital as Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the south pole of the moon. As this remarkable year draws to a close, 2024 holds promising events for the country. From the inauguration of the much-awaited Ram Temple in Ayodhya to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the new year marks the beginning of a new chapter for India.

From Delhi to Chennai: this is how India celebrated 2024

Cities across the country welcomed the new year with exuberant celebrations and joy. Goa dazzled with stunning fireworks, and people gathered at Mumbai’s Gateway of India to welcome 2024. In Delhi, a New Year’s aarti was performed at the Jhandewalan Devi Temple, and huge crowds gathered at Connaught Place. Similarly, Kamarajar Salai in Chennai saw a large turnout, and Mall Road in Shimla was filled with people welcoming the coming year. Similarly, the Golden Temple in Amritsar also witnessed devotees welcoming the New Year with faith and prayers.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal along with his wife MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal reached the Golden Temple and offered prayers as the New Year began. “We are here at the Darbar Sahib to pray that the New Year will be a year of happiness for everyone. May the country and Punjab develop,” Sukhbir Badal said. A large number of devotees visited the Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha temple in Pathanamthitta on the last day of the year. The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi, Maharashtra, also witnessed devotees gathering to offer their prayers on the last day of the year.
