A LOTTO player has missed out on the chance to become a millionaire after his girlfriend changed their usual lucky numbers.
Jacob Simon, 32, admitted he and Chantelle Avossa, 29, had a falling out after she changed his lottery numbers in a lucky dip.
His normal choice would have seen the pair become instant millionaires and secure a whopping £7.5million, shared with six other EuroMillions jackpot winners.
But without warning, nurse Chantelle – mother of their three-year-old son – switched the numbers because they had not brought happiness all year.
The dip has yielded nothing.
Until Chantelle changed their numbers, the couple had chosen 14, 20, 27, 34, 38 and lucky stars 2 and 11 – a year before the draw.
They all passed except number 2, and the Lotto app game history showed that they had stayed with those numbers until the week of the draw.
The draw that took place in 2020 saw a record £175 million up for grabs.
Plasterer Jacob from Leicester said: 'I feel sick.
'The more I think about it, the more I can't believe it.
'We didn't sleep at all.
“We fell out a little bit.”
Jacob said he wasn't watching the drawing and thought his girlfriend was joking when she told him their numbers had been drawn and she had changed them at the last minute.
'I thought she was joking.
It only dawned on me later,” he added.
'I'm glad it wasn't millions, that would have been absolutely hurtful.
“You don't lose anything if you never had it, but it was a beautiful dream.
“I could have been a millionaire.”
It comes after a lucky punter won £66,000 in the Postcode Lottery despite not even living there.
And this lucky Briton became the biggest winner ever of the People's Postcode Lottery.
