New Delhi: Indian fans were not happy with BCCI on Monday as the Indian cricket board once again left out star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson from the national side, this time in the T20I series against newly crowned world champions Australia.
A day after the heartbreaking final loss of the ICC World Cup 2023 by the Australians, BCCI announced the T20I squad for the 5-match series in which Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side and Ruturaj Gaikwad will act as his deputy. The big players in Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj are all rested and a relatively younger side will take on the new Over-50 World Champions.
The netizens were not at all happy with Samson’s exclusion and criticized the board for their ignorance.
It’s hard to be Sanju Samson

No Sanju Samson in the T20I squad for Australia. Obviously it’s a T20I World Cup cycle, so he will definitely be in the ODI squads. FOREIGN#INDvsAUS

Sanju Samson is the only player to have been dropped from the Irish tour. Unreal.

Unsure about the selectors’ stance on Sanju Samson. What did he do wrong? Scoring runs in ODIs got him dropped, and now out of T20Is too. It’s frustrating. Do the Indian selectors not see his potential?
A regrettable situation for Sanju Samson. pic.twitter.com/srRDquL5Bu

Every time an Indian match is scheduled in Trivandrum, @BCCI has always made sure Sanju Samson doesn’t play it
The most unfairly treated player in the history of Indian cricket 💯
