Now, eight months after his untimely death, Nargeolet’s New York home has hit the market.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom lakeside mansion is on the market for £1.35 million, but inside are eerie photos of the Titanic ship that was sunk in 1517.

The deep-sea explorer was known as “Mr Titanic” because of his many dives to the wrecked ship.

The 2.74-acre estate comes with a boat dock, private beach and the master bedroom functions a balcony with lake views, a walk-in closet and a fireplace.

Nargeolet bought the impressive mansion in Holmes, New York two years ago to be closer to friends.

At the time of his death he was living there with his wife, Anne Sarraz-Bournet.

Regan Andrews, who shared the ad, knew Nargeolet because she happened to be a neighbor.

She said, “I can tell you they had friends who lived on the lake, which was probably the first thing that brought them here.

“And I have to imagine that a man who spent his life on the water would like to have a view of the water.

“He and his wife who lived there enjoyed it swimming.

“And I’m not just talking about paddling in the water, I mean they actually enjoyed going swimming in the lake, which was another reason why they bought it.”

The shelves of his office are still packed books about the Titanic, meanwhile photos of the sunken ship decorate the walls of the house.

In one room, a photo of the doomed ship’s sunken bow hangs on a shelf, while a White Star Line poster of the ship pride place in one bathroom.

In the dining room, the fireplace is still topped by a model ship – a reminder of the owner’s life on the ocean.

Regan spoke with Nargeolet just before he left for his final dive.

She said: “I’ve met him a few times.

“He was very charming, I must say. He had that glint in his eye.

“I actually spoke to him just before he left for this last expedition.

“He called me to tell me he had a client he wanted to introduce me to, someone who might be interested in buying a house in the area.

“And he said, ‘We’ll see each other when I come back,’ and I said, ‘Okay, fine, no problem.’ He said he would come back in June, and we all know what happened.

The 73-year-old was on board the doomed submarine with the CEO of Oceangate Stockton RushBritish billionaire Hamish Hardingbusinessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman when it disappeared last year.

Nargeolet has one chilling warning of extreme danger weeks before he disappeared.

He said: “If you’re seven or seven miles away and something bad happens, the result is the same.

“If you’re in really deep water, you’ll be dead before you even realize anything is happening, so it’s just not a problem.”

A US Navy doctor confirmed Nargeolet’s statement when he revealed what allegedly happened during the operation The last moments of the Titan crew.

A violent implosion would have torn away the rear hatch and landing frame and torn the submarine’s hull apart, crushing the passengers inside.

Dr. Dale Molé, the former director of undersea medicine and radiation health for the US Navy, told the Daily email: “It would have happened so suddenly, they wouldn’t have even known there was a problem, or what had happened to them.

“It’s like you’re here for one minute and then the switch turns off. One millisecond you’re alive, and the next millisecond you’re dead.”

Almost a year later, the cause of the disaster is still unclear.

But a diving expert has revealed there were warning signs sub was a “ticking time bomb”.

Dik Barton made 22 dives to the historic shipwreck and said he would never have boarded the Titan submarine.
