Ipswich: Two officers are shot during a police chase in Brisbane

Two police officers have been injured, one with a serious cut to his arm, after a passenger emerged from a car they stopped with a knife in south-west Queensland.

The police helicopter followed the car through several south Brisbane suburbs before tire inflators were used to stop the car on Boundary Road at the intersection of Antimony Street in Carole Park just after 1am on Sunday.

It is alleged police were approaching the car when a passenger emerged with a knife and slashed a South Brisbane District Senior Constable across the arm.

The officer was seriously injured and his colleague immediately administered first aid to the wound.

A second officer reportedly suffered a cut on his finger while arresting three people from the car.

The two officers were taken to hospital for treatment. Neither officer's injuries are considered life-threatening.

Detectives have charged a 37-year-old Cherbourg man with acts intended to resist lawful arrest. He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

The driver, a 25-year-old woman from Goodna, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, five counts of theft and four counts of driving without a license.

The woman will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
