Ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, The Punjab Kings launched their much-awaited new match shirt.
New Delhi: Ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, The Punjab Kings launched their much-awaited new match shirt. The jersey was unveiled at a spectacular event at Elante Mall in Chandigarh on Saturday in the presence of renowned personalities from all walks of life.
A striking comic performance by Jasmeet Singh Bhatia left the audience divided. Afterwards, Punjab Kings co-owner Preity G Zinta and team captain Shikhar Dhawan unveiled the new colors and unveiled the stunning new design in all its glory. The other members of the team and the technical staff were also present at the ceremony.
Further adding to the glamor and entertainment of the evening was Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal, who mesmerized the packed sher team and set the stage on fire with his lively performance.
Manufactured by playR, the new red jersey is made to international standards and embodies passion, spirit and strength, something that the Shers of Punjab stand for. The fabric for the new jersey was imported from Vietnam and its production was done in India by PlayR. It is 20% lighter and 30% more stretchy and is designed with anti-sweat, anti-odor, anti-bacterial and anti-pilling technologies. The new sweater is also resistant to UV rays and thus prevents color fading.

At the bottom of the sweater, the kesari patterns are inspired by fire, a symbol deeply rooted in our traditions and resonating with auspicious beginnings. It further emphasizes the fire within the Shers. The Indian tricolor on the shoulder blades marks a tribute to our nation and to our honorable armed forces. The nihal blue arrows on the sides reflect the upward movement and symbolize the weapons of the warriors of Punjab. The honeycomb pattern on the bottom of the jersey is dedicated to the fans and the spirit of teamwork, inspired by the unity of honey bees, working in synergy towards one goal.
