A man has been charged after allegedly attacking another man in a bar before stabbing a taxi driver and a food delivery worker within 24 hours.

The 25-year-old was arrested just before 2pm on Saturday in Redfern, inner-city Sydney, where the three alleged attacks took place, and has been charged with a range of offenses including assault and possession of a prohibited drug.

Emergency services were called to a bar on Phillip Street in Redfern before midday on Friday after reports that a 56-year-old man had been attacked.

Later that evening, a 38-year-old taxi driver was found with stab wounds to his chest and hand at the intersection of Walker Street and James Street in the same suburb.

Police were told a man had opened the passenger door of the taxi, stabbed the driver in the chest and then fled the scene.

The alleged victim was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in stable condition.

Shortly after the taxi driver was stabbed, police received reports that a food delivery worker had also been attacked.

The third victim, aged 25, was reportedly stabbed in the back before being treated and taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition.

The food delivery man has now been fired and the taxi driver is expected to be released from hospital on Sunday.

NSW Police Detective Acting Chief Inspector Dean Johnstone said the taxi driver had endured a “horrific ordeal”.

“It is believed the person involved in these stabbings is the same person,” he said.

'It is very frightening and it concerns us very much that these two gentlemen were actually working in work-related roles at the time of the attacks.
