States including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh have announced winter holidays keeping in mind the health of children amid cold waves.

School closed, winter holidays: Amid continued heavy snowfall in the mountain areas, cold and frigid weather has increased in the plains too. A decline in mercury levels has been observed in several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. As a result, winter vacation dates have been announced in schools in several states keeping the health of the children in mind. Recently, the governments of Jharkhand and Punjab issued notices for winter holidays in schools due to the cold wave. Besides, winter holiday dates have also been released in Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

Winter holidays in Jharkhand

Keeping the health of the students in mind, the Jharkhand government has decided to keep schools closed till December 31. These schools will remain closed from December 26 to December 31. However, in view of the board exams, schools can continue classes 10 and 12 as required. The Jharkhand Board Class 10 and 12 exams will begin on February 6 and end on February 26, 2023.

Winter holidays in Delhi

The Delhi government has announced winter vacation in all private and government schools. Schools will remain closed from January 1 to 6, 2024. This time, only 6 days of winter holidays have been declared in schools as holidays were declared earlier in November due to air pollution in the national capital.

Winter vacation in Bihar school

The Bihar education department may also announce the dates of winter vacations in schools soon. Students and parents are advised to keep in touch with the school. Apart from this, winter holidays are going to start in other states soon.

Winter holidays in Punjab

The Punjab Education Department on Friday announced winter vacations in all government and private schools, including aided and recognized schools. According to the notification, all schools will remain closed from December 24, 2023 to December 31, 2023.

When will schools open in Uttar Pradesh?

Last year, winter vacation in schools in Uttar Pradesh was declared from December 31 to January 14, but this year winter vacation has not yet been announced by the state government. However, it is expected that this time the winter holidays may be declared for 15 days from January 1. Students and parents are advised to keep in touch with the school.

Winter holidays in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan administration has announced winter vacations in all schools from December 25. Schools in the state will remain closed until January 5.

Winter holidays in Jammu

According to the notification issued by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ), schools will be closed from December 11 to February 29 for classes up to class 8. The holidays for classes 9 to 12 will be from December 18 to February 29 .
