Diageo drinks expert August Svensson says: ‘Ice is such a focal point for creating the perfect drink, and we’ve really noticed an increase this year in the number of people getting creative with this normally quite boring product.

‘In addition to the ice softening the alcohol, adding other ingredients to the ice, such as fruit, berries or herbs, allows new, subtle complementary flavor profiles to come through in classic drinks – and it looks really nice to watch too to crave social media.

‘The idea of a snow globe cocktail, although it can be a bit fiddly, is proving so popular because it is such a new showstopper (or should that be a snow stopper?) for special gatherings around Christmas and New Year that is sure to please fall everyone talks.

‘I think this is a drink that will be added to the festive canon and could become as much-loved a tradition as Christmas crackers, while this twist on ice will be taken to a whole new level.’
