He fell ill while being held in police cells in Abingdon, Oxford.

He was taken to the city’s John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment and was handed over to police early yesterday morning as he fled.

Despite an extensive search of the area, 24-year-old Ousley was not found.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Officers are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man who has evaded lawful custody in Oxford.

“Ricky Ousley, aged 24, had been arrested in connection with a domestic incident but fell ill in Abingdon Prison and was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

“At approximately 7.35am the hospital released Ousley back into the custody of officers when he disappeared.

“Ousley is a white male, approximately 6 feet to 6 feet tall, with black hair and a beard. He is known to frequent south Oxford.’

Chief Inspector Emma Garside, of Thames Valley Police, said: “Ousley was taken to hospital for treatment after his arrest and after being discharged he made off with officers.

“Despite efforts to locate him, we have so far been unable to do so. That’s why we’re appealing to anyone who knows where he is to call police on 999.

“If you see him, we would urge the public not to approach him but to contact Thames Valley Police immediately.”
