O’Sullivan, 48, got through his first round match against Michael White with a 5-3 win.

But the win didn’t come without the legend losing patience as he tried to close out the match at 4-3.

O’Sullivan stepped to the table and tried to shoot a red into the far corner.

But he made a bad mistake when the ball hit the pad instead of falling into the pocket.

The eight-time Masters champion stuck out his tongue in frustration and grimaced.

He then hit his cue against the side of the table.

Eurosport commentators were shocked as they said: “It’s some of those mid-range shots. He’s absolutely furious. Crikey.

“He could have gotten the lump out of his cue.”

The match was wrapped up in the 72nd minute by Mateo Kovacic and moments later Guardiola decided to enforce the changes.

He made a quadruple substitution, taking off Haaland, Nathan Aké, John Stones and Bernardo Silva, and ITV commentator Sam Matterface noticed something unusual about the adjustment.

Guardiola appeared to be in charge of informing the fourth official of the substitutions – a task usually delegated to an assistant.

Matterface asked: “Is this the first time we’ve ever seen Pep Guardiola hand the pieces of paper to the fourth official?”

“I’ve never seen that before,” replied co-commentator Lee Dixon.

Matterface then confirmed: “He is now the one making the substitutions, usually it is the assistant manager who does that job.”

John Avlon, a Democrat and former CNN political analyst, announced Wednesday that he would enter a crowded congressional primary to try to flip a Republican-held swing seat on Long Island.

Avlon, a moderate who once worked for Rudolph W. Giuliani and helped found the centrist political group No Labels, has emerged in recent years as a piercing critic of former President Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party he calls image has been reformed.

In an interview, Avlon, 51, said he felt compelled to enter the political struggle from journalism to help “break this fever” and “drive out MAGA followers who are not even trying to solve problems in the national interest to solve'.

“The gravity of the times really hit me,” he said.

Winning the Suffolk County district will not be an easy task for a Democrat. It is currently held by Rep. Nick LaLota, a first-term Republican. Although President Biden won the district by 0.2 percentage points in 2020, Mr. LaLota sailed to an 11-point victory two years later.

Washington Democrats do not currently view the district as a top target comparable to the more favorable suburban swing seats elsewhere in New York. But that could yet change, as Democrats in Albany weigh whether to use a rare mid-decade court-ordered redistricting process to draw a more favorable congressional map.

And on Long Island, Democrats got a shot of optimism last week when Tom Suozzi won a special election, flipping a neighboring seat in Queens and Nassau County held by a Republican, George Santos.

But before any of that happens, Avlon will likely face a tough Democratic primary in June. Nancy Goroff, a wealthy retired chemistry professor who ran unsuccessfully for the seat in 2020, is considered the frontrunner. Jim Gaughran, a former senator, and Kyle Hill, a former congressional aide, are also seeking the nomination.

In the interview, Mr. Avlon said Ms. Goroff's unfavorable 2020 results “speak for themselves” and argued he was uniquely positioned to pitch a big tent to voters.

He cited the threat to abortion rights and the dangers of climate change as top priorities for the campaign. But he also said Democrats should learn from Mr. Suozzi's successful playbook and “go on the offensive” on issues like crime and the migrant crisis sweeping the southern border.

“This is too important to lose; we need candidates who can be attractive and energize not only Democrats but also independents,” he said. “That's the simple math of it.”

Mr. Avlon has deep connections in New York City politics and journalism. He served as Mr. Giuliani's policy adviser and chief speechwriter during his mayoralty and presidential campaign, or, as Mr. Avlon said, “when he was healthy again.” Mr. Avlon later joined The Daily Beast as a columnist and rose to editor-in-chief before joining CNN full-time as an on-air commentator in 2018.

But his ties to the district are more superficial. He had lived in Manhattan for many years and in 2017 bought a house in Sag Harbor, the wealthy enclave of the Hamptons, with his wife Margaret Hoover. She is a conservative and host of “Firing Line,” the PBS talk show. Voting records show Mr. Avlon voted in Suffolk County for the first time in 2020.

Critics from both sides waited only moments before striking Thursday.

“Avlon knows nothing about Suffolk County other than the croquet games in Sag Harbor and summer cocktail parties in Bridgehampton,” said Will Kiley, a spokesman for Mr. LaLota. He called Mr. Avlon a “Manhattan elitist” and the Republican incumbent president a “common-sense conservative voice.”

Ms. Goroff was more diplomatic, saying she would “welcome anyone who is willing to join the fight.” But behind the scenes, her allies were already stepping up attacks on Mr. Avlon and his political history with the Republicans, which will likely come to light in the coming months.

Who is Wayne Mardle?

Wayne Elliot Mardle was born on May 10, 1973 in Dagenham, East London.

He is often called Hawaii 501 – a play on the TV series Hawaii Five-O – because he started wearing Hawaiian shirts after losing a bet.

His father taught him how to play darts from the age of eleven and he took to it like a fish to water, achieving his first 180 within two weeks.

Wayne won his first match at the Double Top pub on his 13th birthday.

He has had a long career in the sport he loves, first as a professional player, then as a commentator and pundit.

Mardle also works as a professional speaker at events and exhibitions and has founded the Wayne Mardle School of Darts for anyone looking to improve their game.

How long has Wayne Mardle been commentating on darts?

Wayne started commentating on the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship alongside Sid Waddell and Dave Clark – and also predicted the results of the tournament with Eric Bristow and Rod Harrington.

He has become a regular commentator and pundit for Sky Sports.

Mardle famously produced an iconic piece of commentary during the 2023 PDC World Finals as Michael Smith triumphed over Michael van Gerwen.

He could be heard shouting “I can't speak” after Van Gerwen narrowly missed a nine-darter and Smith hit one on his next visit.

What did Wayne Mardle do before he became a darts commentator?

Before bringing his expertise in the game to viewers of the sport as a pundit and commentator, Wayne was a professional player who reached the semi-finals of the World Championship on five occasions: four times with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and once with the British Darts Organization. (BDO).

He also lost to Phil Taylor in three major finals: the 2003 World Matchplay and the Las Vegas Classic in both 2004 and 2005.

Wayne explained why he stopped playing Guardian in 2021: “I can honestly say that I was loaded with pressure, with tension.

“My head was swimming, my arm was tight, my hand was cold, my feet were freezing.

“I never want to be under that kind of pressure again. And you know what? I absolutely hated it.”

Is Wayne Mardle married and has children?

Wayne is married to Donna Mardle.

The couple likes to keep their private lives out of the public domain, so very little information is available about them.

But he did reveal that they have no children in a post on X, formerly Twitter, in 2018.

He posted a photo of his brown Labrador Sherlock, along with the words: “Donna and I don't have children, so our lives revolve around this animal.

A video has surfaced of a disgusting moment in the Colorado Avalanche broadcast booth.

During a match a few weeks ago, color commentator Mark Rycroft took a sip from what he thought was his coffee cup. However, he made a terrible mistake.

The drink Rycroft grabbed ended up not being water, tea or coffee, but was instead the cup that play-by-play commentator Marc Moser spat into after chewing tobacco.

Rycroft immediately realized his mistake after taking the sip and quickly tried to wash the taste of discarded tobacco from his mouth with the other containers of liquid he had within reach.

Moser then grabbed a tissue and knocked the lid off his tobacco cup after accidentally drinking from it.

Mark Rycroft accidentally drank from Marc Moser’s discarded tobacco spitting cup in mid-air

Both Moser and Rycroft were able to continue broadcasting throughout the ordeal, which was a testament to the professionalism of both men.

Fellow broadcaster Vic Lombardi posted the video on social media.

He noted: “This video has been under lock and key for several weeks. But it’s time. As a form of penance for @RadioMoser, we’re finally releasing the video of @RycroftMark taking a sip of Moser’s chew spitter DURING an Avalanche game.

‘To enjoy. And Merry Christmas.”

Rycroft played for the Avalanche in the 2006-07 season and joined the commentary team in 2018.

Despite the accident, it was a fun season for the Avalanche commentary duo.

The team is currently tied for first place in the Central Division with 42 points.

Brian Taylor has revealed how his family laid a trap after falling victim to a home burglary in Fitzroy.

Taylor, 61, and his wife Tania were sleeping while sons Harrison and Jesse were also in the house when they realized they had been robbed last weekend.

Harrison had been away and returned home at 11:30 p.m. when the family learned they had been victims of a burglary.

“The next thing I know (Mom) comes into my room… saying someone stole all our keys, Dad’s car is gone, my purse is gone,” Harrison said on the Life of Brian podcast.

A Toyota Landcruiser Sahara belonging to Taylor, a football fanatic and commentator for Channel 7, was stolen, as well as Jesse’s wallet, a balance bike and a number of sneakers.

But the quick-thinking Taylor executed a plan to ambush the invaders, leading to the arrest of a civilian.

“Everyone is in bed and all the keys to all the cars are gone and only one car is physically gone and we had a feeling they were going to come back for all the cars,” Taylor said.

“We hid in an ambush at three in the morning and peered around the corner, waiting for someone to come back with the key fob and press the unlock button.

“It was a strange ute that stopped on the street and floated around.”

While Tania was calling the police, sons Harrison and Jesse chased the street and eventually arrested the citizen.

The man in question gave an alibi and claimed he was not at the scene.

“The amber lights went out and Jesse and I immediately sprinted to the car…Jesse followed the man on Brunswick Street and I turned onto Johnston Street and we met there just after the 7-Eleven,” he said.

“He did have an alibi and I don’t think he’s the man, although I’m still suspicious.”

In a strange turn of events, Taylor got his car back the next day after finding it abandoned 600 meters away.

He now wonders whether he should leave his car keys on the table or take them into the bedroom.

‘The question is whether we should leave all our keys on the kitchen table, so that if someone invades our privacy again, he or she can just take the keys and the cars and not stab us.

‘Or do we take the keys and put them in each individual’s bedroom, so that the next time they come into the bedroom and steal the keys. It’s a bit of a dilemma.’

He added: “Jesse had his cards used at 7-Eeleven in Melbourne. Lots of inconvenience. Credit cards, licenses, probably 20 or 30 different cards that need to be replaced. It’s a big inconvenience, but we’ll move on and we’ll all learn from it.”
