TELEVISION fans can now enjoy six additional live channels without paying a cent.

Pluto TV has announced that it has updated its free-to-view app with some bonus content.

The app is an ad-supported rival to Netflix and Disney+.

There is no charge to watch Pluto TV, but you will have to endure commercials.

Pluto TV features more than 250 live channels, with six more joining the roster, as revealed by Cord Cutters News.

There are a few live news and horror films – as well as some quirky additions.

The full list of newly added channels includes:

If you’ve never used Pluto TV, it’s worth considering.

It’s one of many alternatives to Netflix and even Amazon’s own Prime Video in an effort to help people reduce costs, especially during the cost of living crisis.

But this week Freevee is getting two extra channels.

A+E Networks – the company behind channels such as Blaze, Crime & Investigation and Sky History – has also launched them at no extra cost on other platforms, including Virgin Media and Samsung TV Plus.

The company already operates a number of free internet channels you may be familiar with, including Inside Crime, Mystery TV and World War TV.

The latest additions include Deal Masters, aimed at anyone interested in shows about making extra money.

Hardcore Pawn, Dickinson’s Real Deal and Flipping Bangers top the bill.

The other new station is called History Hunters.

It features programs including Sir Tony Robinson, Professor Alice Roberts, Dan Jones and Al Murray.

A little-known streaming service full of free TV shows and movies has gotten a big boost in its offerings.

Rakuten TV has signed a new agreement with A+E Networks, the company behind channels such as Blaze, Crime & Investigation and Sky History.

This means that a new channel called Deal Masters will be launched on the streaming app, with shows about making extra money.

Hardcore Pawn and Flipping Bangers are among the shows coming, with about 40 series new to free streaming.

Another new station is History Hunters with historians and celebrities including Sir Tony Robinson, Professor Alice Roberts, Dan Jones and Al Murray.

A third offering is the RTV Biography Channel.

The station hosts real-life stories about fascinating people and celebrities, with documentaries on Robin Williams, Elvis Presley, The Krays, Muhammad Ali, Jennifer Aniston, Megan Markle, Tina Turner, Seve Ballesteros, Dua Lipa and Tom Cruise.

Rakuten TV is already available to millions of Brits as a free smart TV app and via Amazon Fire TV Sticks.

Remember that if you watch live streamed TV channels you will still need a TV license or you could be fined up to £1000.

But there are hundreds of on-demand shows and movies that aren’t live and don’t require a TV license to watch.

The move comes amid an explosion of so-called “FAST” channels, which stands for free ad-supported streaming TV.

Samsung and LG have already built a lot of their own devices into their TVs, with UKTV and Sky channels on them.

ROKU – the company behind the popular Fire TV Stick rival – has admitted that more than 15,000 user accounts have been hacked.

There is evidence that hackers obtained credit card information from user accounts on two separate occasions and attempted to make fraudulent purchases.

The company says the first breach happened last year and a second attack happened in February.

Roku added that it has refunded customers affected by unauthorized purchases.

Once malicious parties gained access to the accounts via their leaked credentials, hackers locked out the original customers.

According to Roku, many account holders will not have received email confirmation of fraudulent orders placed through the account.

This is because the hackers changed the account information quickly after breaking in.

It is encouraged that Roku customers check their bank statements for any fishing purchases.

Not only financial data was made public, but also names, emails and passwords.

The breaches were documented in a file filed March 8 with the office of the attorneys general for Maine and California.

Here, Roku explains that the incidents occurred on December 28, 2023 and February 21, 2024.

In response, Roku says it quickly secured the accounts from further unauthorized access.

The company remains alert to any further “signs of suspicious activity”.

Owners of FIRE TV Sticks have criticized Amazon for constantly rearranging their home screens, losing many customers as soon as the gadget is turned on.

The most recent change involves pre-existing icons switching places, such as moving the My Stuff tab from the far right to the far left.

But not long ago, Amazon merged the Profile and Settings icons to make room for a new Games icon, AFTV News noted.

For that, Amazon has added a new free icon to make it easier to get to the content that doesn’t cost anything extra.

These are small changes, but the regularity is starting to get under the skin of customers.

Amazon is playing GOD again by putting unwanted ads and other nonsense on the home screen.

Now Fire Stick owners seem to think that the home screen is not designed for the benefit of the user, but to better display ads instead.

“When I called Amazon tech support, they claimed that “since your product costs have been subsidized by Amazon, you no longer control most of the home screen,” according to one customer. claimed in response to the news.

“As a disabled user, the simplicity of a (UX) interface is a godsend for me and many others I know.”

Another added: “The home screen has nothing to do with the user.

“It’s for forcing ads. As long as that remains the case, these small changes are nonsense.”

Without the ability to customize, Fire TV customers say they’re left feeling like Amazon isn’t listening to demands — and that they’re just “tenants” of the gadgets.

“I’m wondering if I own my firestick or just rent it?” asked another customer in the comments.

“Amazon is playing GOD again by putting unwanted ads and other nonsense on the home screen, and now they’ve additionally removed ADB debugging from the devices and prevented apps already purchased from their app store from working.”

Just a few weeks ago, Amazon published a Fire Stick update that blocked third-party softwarewhich meant that an app called Android Debug Bridge (ADB) stopped working.

ADB allows app developers to access software controls and hidden settings.

Android describes it as “a versatile command-line tool that lets you interact with a device.”

That of Great Britain Mirror noted that some of the blocked features “include ways to clear cache, increase memory, and play gaming emulators.”

Another apparently blocked feature allows users to avoid Amazon’s Fire TV homepage, and as a result, the large ads the company now displays on it.

The Sun has contacted Amazon for comment.

While you may have paid a pretty penny for your Amazon Fire Stick and TV, you can actually get the rest of your shows and movies for free.

There are three top alternatives to Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+, that can help you escape the price hike cycle.

Plex offers a ton of streaming channels filled with classic movies and TV shows.

Many are divided into themes, such as Real Crime, Action and Comedy.

UKTV Player includes all content from W, Yesterday, Dave and Drama channels.

Not only can you watch them live, you can also access their programs for free and more on-demand.

There are plenty of box sets, including classic EastEnders episodes.

Freevee is Amazon’s answer to free video content.

There are a number of big hit films, such as the Academy Award-winning Still Alice.

Freevee is also the new home for Neighbors, which returns in September.

Police have questioned a dozen people who sold illegal access to premium TV content in Britain.

One person was arrested and 11 others were questioned as police swarmed areas from Portsmouth to Manchester, Leeds and Wales.

Anyone using modified Amazon Fire Sticks to illegally stream content such as Premier League football has been warned following the raids.

Fire Sticks give users instant access to TV shows from a range of paid streaming apps, such as Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+.

However, people often get versions with unofficial apps on them that provide free or cheap access to premium channels.

A spokesperson for FACT, the British digital forensics company, has said the country is cracking down on digital piracy.

He said: “Implementing these measures has sent a strong message: piracy is a criminal act that must be treated with the utmost seriousness and decisive action will be taken against providers of illegal services, regardless of their size or scale.

“We remain vigilant in monitoring platforms including modified firesticks that promote and distribute illegal streams, and take decisive action against those selling illegal access to premium TV content.

“FACT and its partners are committed to disrupting these criminal operations and non-compliance will result in further law enforcement action.”

In the recent raids, he credited the PIPCU (Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit) for a successful operation.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Warbey from PIPCU added that illegal streaming is an issue that police are starting to take very seriously.

She said: “Illegal streaming is a major problem for the industry and while it may seem like a low-risk, high-reward crime, the proceeds are used to fund other serious forms of criminal activity.

“At the same time, it can expose end users to the risks of data theft, fraud and malware.”

‘By targeting grassroots sellers we are sending a clear message that this will not be tolerated.

“PIPCU will continue to work with law enforcement and industry partners to take action against those offering illegal streaming services and protect consumers from the risks associated with their use.”

All 12 people police spoke to were given warnings, meaning they all now have criminal records.

If they do not comply with the rules in the warning, they can appear in court.

It was recently revealed that around 19 percent of people streamed content illegally over a three-month period.

Police raided homes and made two arrests in January after finding pirated Fire TV devices were being sold with full unauthorized access to premium Sky packages.

And an investigation led to the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) discovering a Telegram channel selling the illegal Fire Sticks, netting those involved more than £800,000.

Detective Inspector Steve Payne, from ERSOU’s regional organized crime unit, is concerned that this money will be used to fund other crimes.

He said: “We know from experience that the money generated in this way is often used to fund wider organized crime, which is why it is vital to arrest those involved.

“We have also accessed the data of those purchasing the streams, and I would like to remind anyone who does so that they are breaking the law and could ultimately be subject to criminal charges.”

AN Amazon Fire TV Stick user has expressed his frustration over a remote issue.

The comments were posted on the popular Reddit forum r/FireStickHacks.

“Does the Fire Stick remote have to die so early,” says the Fire Stick user asked.

“I had it for less than a year and the remote control already fell out for me.

“Tried new batteries, held down the home button, everything. Is this normal?

“I know I can use my phone as a remote, but it doesn’t have volume or power off controls.

“Should I just accept it and buy a new remote?”

The confused Redditor received several replies from other Fire TV Stick owners.

“If this happened. I contacted Amazon and a new one was shipped the same day.

“I haven’t had to fight for it so assume it’s a common problem. I’ve had the new one for over a year now and there have been no problems at all,” one person advised.

If you are still under warranty, you should be able to get a replacement. In the meantime, you could use the “Amazon Fire TV” app as a remote control from a phone or tablet, it is available for Android and IOS devices. ..it’s a bit fiddly to use but should be ok for the short term until you get a new remote..” advised another.

Amazon Fire TV Stick users with remotes that are defective but under warranty should be able to have them replaced for free.

If you are older, it may be more difficult to solve the problem.

It is possible to replace the batteries, but you may need to purchase a new remote control.

“It didn’t happen to me until a year later. It’s because it’s a very stupid process to replace and reset the remote control when the batteries run out.

“YouTube has tutorials. Mine came back to life after following one,” another Reddior advised.

Start the fire again

Then do what you can to improve your Wi-Fi connection.

You can do this by making sure your router is away from certain objects and contacting your Internet service provider.

If your Fire Stick is too far from your Wi-Fi router, your signal strength will be weak and cause buffering issues.

Try moving the router closer to the Fire Stick, but don’t place it directly behind the TV.

Alternatively, you can use an Ethernet cable for a secure internet connection.

Free up space

Then check your storage space in the settings.

Fire Stick’s have 8GB of storage, but only about 5.5GB that can actually be used, which can quickly be eaten up by apps.

But you can also use an old USB stick that you have stashed away at home as an external storage drive. That’s how you do that.

Placement is crucial

The placement of your Fire Stick is also important.

If your TV is in an unventilated place, your Fire Stick may overheat.

Make sure the Fire Stick and your television have good airflow around them.

Last resort

If you’re still left with a buffering Fire Stick after all that, try downloading a VPN, also called a virtual private network.

Your ISP may slow down your connection speed from time to time if it detects too much streaming activity. This is called throttling.

In this case, a VPN masks your IP address to prevent so-called throttling and buffering.
