Claire and Connor were on their way At home after going out to dinner when they saw Bunn “staggering” across a parking lot.

When Bunn in a carConnor went up to him and told him that he “shouldn't be driving under the influence.”

But as the couple walked away, Bunn bumped into Connor from behind, knocking him over.

Shocking CCTV Footage shows Bunn then reversing before climbing back up the curb and driving towards the couple.

He narrowly missed Connor, but bumped into Claire and then sped away.

Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester heard it was a 'miracle' that Claire was knocked through a small hole in the wall instead of being crushed against it.

In a victim impact statement, Claire said: “Thank God that gap was there otherwise I really think I would have been murdered that night.

“When the car backed up for the second time, I remember thinking, 'This is it. I'm going to die.'

“'My daughter will wake up tomorrow without her mother, and for what?'

“I felt terrified. How could another human do this to someone?

“I remember being afraid they would come back and kill us.”

'Terrifying'

Claire was unable to sleep for several months after the crash and is now receiving counseling post-traumatic stress.

Trainee doctor Connor had to stop his studies and may now have to retake his exams for a year University.

He told the court: “Fortunately and miraculously, our injuries were quite minor, but emotionally the impact was very heavy.

'There was anger and frustration, but mostly I felt guilty.

“If I hadn't stopped and told him to stop driving when he was clearly drunk, none of this would have happened.

“I know logically that I did nothing wrong, but I still feel guilty.”

TEENAGER LIES

Bunn first claimed he was attacked by Connor before “blacking out” – and that he had “no memory” of the punch.

He admitted drinks two bottles of beer, but denied being drunk or on drugs.

But yesterday Bunn was put in prison for four years and seven months after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and attempted grievous bodily harm.

The 22-year-old was also banned from entering the driving for five years, after court delays held up the case for more than three years.

Recorder Nathan Moxon said Claire was “lucky not to be pushed against the wall”.

He added: “We have all looked at the CCTV footage. It's terrifying.

'It's a wonder there weren't more serious injuries. If there hadn't been a hole in the wall, dead would have been predictable.”

Afterwards Claire said: 'It's been so long. I'm just glad he got some form of custodial sentence.

“I have all the signs of PTSD. I often hear and smell the car engine. It feels like I've had a near-death experience.

“If that hole hadn't been there, I would have been crushed. I would have died.”
