The hangover perfectly captures how one man’s weekend went terribly wrong – and launched some major Hollywood careers in the process.
The 2009 film follows Doug (Justin Bartha) and three of his friends (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms And Zach Galifianakis) as they risk everything during Doug’s bachelor party in Las Vegas. However, things change when they wake up and can’t remember what happened – or where they lost their groom.
When the raunchy comedy hit theaters, it was a huge success, earning $16,734,033 in one day. It has since grossed $467,416,722 worldwide and spawned two sequels: 2011’s The Hangover Part II and 2013 The hangover part III.
Although the actors have said they enjoyed creating the bizarre franchise, they are not rushing to film another one.
“Look, that was a big part of my life that I don’t regret at all, but I wish we had done just one,” Galifianakis admitted during an interview on the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast in January 2016. “I think [it’s best to] sometimes leave it well enough alone.”
