He spoke out after last weekend’s raid on Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull.

The financially troubled group charged well below expectations for cremations, some of which, police believe, did not take place.

Mr. Fogg, van Sheffieldsaid: “These types of cheap funerals are turning an already unregulated industry into the Wild West.

“You don’t have to have a building to be a funeral director.

“You could set up a website and offer £1,200 funerals.

“No good house can compete with that.

“It would be impossible.”

The Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management supports a system of licensing and parlor inspections.

Heritage director Robert Bush, 46, and his daughter Saskya, 23, were arrested on fraud charges.

They were saved by Police.
