White Lotus creator Mike White has revealed that the highly anticipated third season will be ‘supersized’.

The beloved HBO show is expected to hit screens in 2025 after production was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

In a new interview with Entertainment weeklyMike revealed that he hopes to start filming the third season of The White Lotus at the beginning [2024].’

He said: ‘I’m seriously finishing scripts. Still waiting to be able to cast.

“If the SAG strike isn’t resolved soon, then we’ll have to push again because the show has a new cast every season, so there are a lot of roles to cast… I’m eager to get started.”

‘It will be a super-sized White Lotus. It gets longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I’m super excited, so for my own barometer that’s a good thing… I’m super excited about the content of the season.’

Hours later, it was revealed that the SAG-AFTRA strike would end after 118 days of protests, after the union reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood Studios.

It was previously reported that the upcoming third season would be set in Thailand, after sources said Variety Mike was spotted exploring several locations around the country.

So far, no details have been revealed about the third season’s cast, although it will likely feature a largely new collection of stars.

However, the second season featured recurring characters played by Jon Gries and Jennifer Coolidge.

The previous two seasons were set in fictional White Lotus hotels, but were shot on the grounds of Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii and Sicily.

Variety noted that the luxury hotel chain has four locations throughout Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle.

The outlet noted that the various locations are in the city, in the countryside, in the lush jungle and in a beautiful beach location, giving White plenty of options for his next season.

Mike teased plans for a possible Australian edition of the hit series during a press conference at Sydney’s Vivid Festival this week.

“My dream would be to reach every continent, so yes, this is actually its own continent,” he said.

‘If we want to continue, we actually have to come to Australia. It would be so much fun. ‘

He added: ‘It’s clear there is a huge wealth of talent here and the beauty is undeniable, so it feels like it ticks all the boxes.’

Mike went on to explain that if the series decided to film a prequel to season one, beloved Australian actor Murray Bartlett, who played hotel manager Armond, could return to the show.

“I definitely think that’s possible, we were just talking about that,” he said, adding that Jennifer, who was killed off in season two, could also return for a prequel.

‘It’s a funny idea. And making Jennifer twenty years younger would be fun too. We can get Murray Bartlett back,” Mike said.

The first two seasons were a critical hit and a fan favorite for HBO.

The first season won 10 Emmy awards and made waves at several other awards shows.

Among those honored was two-time star Jennifer Coolidge, who is good friends with White.

The interest in the first season helped revive her career, leading to her triumphant return in the second season, along with a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
