Two people died when a passenger plane with 44 people on board collided with another plane en route to a resort in Kenya
TWO people have been killed in a mid-air collision after a passenger plane crashed into another plane in Kenya.
The tourist plane with 44 passengers on board managed to stay airborne after the mid-air crash with a single-engine training aircraft over Nairobi National Park.
But the smaller plane was sent spiraling back to the ground, killing both the pilot and the student on board.
The passenger plane was on its way to the tourist resort of Diani before the horror.
The tragedy occurred at around 9:45 a.m. local time (06:45 GMT) when the plane, a Dash 8 operated by Safarilink Aviation, collided with the smaller plane.
The crew had reported hearing a loud banging noise shortly after takeoff from Wilson Airport and decided to turn back, according to the airline.

Local airline Safarilink said passengers on the plane bound for the coastal town of Diani were unharmed.
“I can confirm that a student and a trainer (in the training aircraft) … were killed during the incident,” a Nairobi County police commander said.
The police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCCA).
