Looking for an appropriate, sophisticated dress for a garden wedding, one guest shared her options with Reddit users.
Since she doesn't know much about style, she hoped they could guide her.
Posting on Reddit, the woman said she hadn't bought herself a new dress in years, but she was ready to make an effort for an upcoming garden wedding in April.
But she needed some advice.
“I don't really dress well in general… but I've been wanting to dress more and more sophisticated, and I'm also very attracted to whimsical things,” she wrote in the after.
There were five options she considered.
'Can you help me choose one that is flattering, but still appropriate for this wedding? Or should I keep looking?”
She shared photos of herself for “color analysis” and body type reference, adding that she is about 6 feet tall and weighs 145 pounds.
The first option she shared consisted of a boned corset top and tea-length bottoms.
But while she loved it – especially the pocket brand – she worried it was inappropriate.
“Maybe too booby?” she wondered.
Her second option, a floral mini, was her “favorite” because she felt it was more sophisticated.
It had short puffed sleeves and a built-in belt.
Option three was a bit more feminine and cool, and she said she loved it because it was “Bo Peep whimsy.”
She called the mini in option four “super sophisticated” and said that even though option five was only $20 from Shein, she thought the photos and reviews looked good.
Reddit users shared their thoughts.
“I love dress four. The first dress is very booby. If you had a small chest it would probably look less renaissance, but don't think you'll have much eye contact wearing it,” one person wrote.
“Dress four is the only option here. Refined and whimsical. the others are too casual and five is not a cocktail (maybe formal),” added another.
“I think four suits you very well! You would too, but if you aren't super comfortable with the cleavage then I would go for something else. I think two is a bit too casual unfortunately, even if it is your favorite,” a third chimed in.
