A water company that killed thousands of fish with raw sewage is hoping to sell Lego models for cash

A WATER company guilty of some of the worst sewage pollution in British rivers has turned its hand to Lego.

Southern Water – fined £330,000 for killing 2,000 fish by dumping raw sewage – wants to educate children with its Sewer Heroes: Fighting the Fatberg model creation.

Bosses have urged customers to vote for the kit Lego Ideas website in hopes that it will one day be sold in stores.

It functions a sewer team working with pumping equipment in tunnels beneath a burger shop trying to clear a Fatberg blockage.

The company’s Network Protection and Enforcement Team is promoting the model amid anger over the region’s filthy rivers.

Southern Water bosses were recently fined for releasing toxic sewage into a river at Waltham Chase, Hantskilling thousands of fish.

Watchdogs at the Consumer Council for Water said the company registered nearly three times higher than the overall average for waste and sewer companies.

And the company was one of two named last year as “notable poor performers” for handling customer complaints.

Southern Water customer Jenny Clark from Cowplain, Hants, said: “It’s astonishing that Southern Water is wasting time thinking about Lego when it has such a shocking reputation for polluting our rivers and the sea.

“People want to be able to go to the beach and swim in the sea without having to worry about sewage getting into it.

“Southern Water seems more concerned with promoting a Lego set.”

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “If it can reach 10,000 goalit will be judged by Lego’s master builders and possibly become a real commercial set.

“We’re asking our customers to add their voice to the project by clicking on the link and helping us goal.”
