An American woman has shared some of her favorite new phrases she learned after a year living in Britain.

Ashlee King, who lives in London, has made a list of her most used phrases. If she lives in the US, they are not part of her usual language.

In a now-viral TikTok, Ashlee revealed the phrases she'll take home with her when she leaves.

“First, 'get it in order,'” she said. 'Instead of saying this like oh, “We'll arrange it' or 'how did you arrange that?'

“This is a phrase you might use in the US, but you guys use it a lot more here,” she explained.

The next thing Ashlee said she used, which she also used in the US but is said more in Britain, is “to be honest.”

“I like to be honest,” she declared. 'I like typing TBF.'

Her next favorite was for f**k's sake or 'FFS', in which she describes a number of times she has used it in the past.

“The day I stubbed my toe and my knee-jerk reaction was to say ffs,” she said. 'I felt really British at that moment.'

“Every time something negative happens, you just reply 'FFS,'” she added.

Her last word was the word she said she never said before moving countries, but started saying after living in England for almost a year, which was simply 'c**t'.

“In the US it's such a bad thing to say and it becomes a little more acceptable, for example you can say this with a 'Y' at the end, as a joke in the US,” she explained.

“If you called someone that, everyone would stare at you and say, that was aggressive,” Ashlee explained.

“As long as I live here, I can say something about someone once a quarter,” she joked. “Don't tell my mom and dad.”

Ashlee was first thrust into the spotlight after gaining recognition for her TikTok video documenting her life in London and her series trying British tea.

She previously made a video about her other new phrases, including “what are you talking about,” “throw it away,” and “you broke it.”

Ashlee moved from the US to London about a year ago when her fiancé was offered a job transfer, and says it was the best decision she ever made.

“I've always wanted to live abroad, I love to travel,” she explained in a TikTok.

Ashlee quit her job to move with her fiancé. She says she hasn't found a 9-to-5 job, but has taken time to pursue some hobbies, like making videos.

“We love it here,” she said. 'And if you ever get the chance to move to another country for a short period of time, you should definitely do it.'

She continued, “My view of the world has changed so much and I'm super, super grateful to be here.”
