An American woman has been ridiculed online after her boyfriend answered trivial questions about British history.

Luke Tandy posted the humorous incident to his TikTok account and asked his partner seven questions in the clampwhich has been viewed more than 100,000 times.

At the start of the quiz, Luke started with what could be considered an easy question when he asked: 'Who is the Prime Minister of Great Britain?'

Surprisingly, his girlfriend had no idea and replied, “King Charles, King Williams, Prince Williams.” Not only did he manage to confuse Prime Minister Rishi Sunak with members of the Royal Family, but he also stumbled over the name of the Prince of Wales.

Luke then asked a slightly more difficult question: 'What countries makes up Great Britain?'

In response, his partner successfully guessed England, Wales and Scotland, and rightly left out Northern Ireland, which is not part of Great Britain but is in fact just part of the United Kingdom.

She managed to get two right in a row, correctly answering that the pound sterling is the currency of the United Kingdom, before stating that London is the capital of England.

Her string of correct answers came to an end when she was asked to guess the time zone used in Great Britain – which is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in winter and British Summer Time (BST) in summer – where she comically guessed the cities of Bristol and Bristol. Newcastle in response.

She was also confused by her partner's next question: “Which British chocolatier made the Creme Egg?”

Thinking he meant a person and not a brand, she took a guess at 'Sir Edward Charles'.

The first filled chocolate egg was made by the Cadbury brothers, John and Benjamin, but the egg in its current form was actually manufactured by Fry's in 1961, before later being made by Cadbury from 1973.

Luke concluded the video with a 'true or false' category and asked if the following cities are in Great Britain: London, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Marbella.

She got them all right, except she stumbled over Nottingham, which she said was not in Britain, while she believed that Cairo, the capital of Egypt, was a British city.

Other users commented on the video and were incredulous at some of her answers.

One wrote: 'Not knowing who the Prime Minister is is acceptable, but thinking it is the King is absurd.'

Another scorned: “Imagine thinking Cairo is in England.”

A third joked: “To be honest, we've changed Prime Ministers a lot lately.”

A fourth commented: 'Fry made the cream egg, [it is] now made by Cadbury!'
