According to reports, APPLE could follow Samsung’s lead and create a new wearable gadget.

The health tracking device was previously patented by the tech giant, but new reports claim it could now be in the works.

Apple may be developing a smart ring that users can wear on their finger to monitor their health and fitness data.

The US-based company filed a patent for ‘a wearable electronic ring’ in 2019, and little has been known about it since.

But a new report from the Korean media outlet ET news suggested that Apple would soon start developing the ring future.

According to an industry insider, Apple’s plans to commercialize the product appear “imminent.”

And it comes not long after Samsung teased the Galaxy ring at its latest launch event in the US.

The Ring has no release date or price and appears to be aimed at people who want less intrusive wearable technology.

The AI-powered Samsung health experience can track sleep patterns, blood oxygen changes and heart rate during sleep.

Samsung CEO Hon Pak said during a recent interview: “The ring represents that community of people who want health monitoring that is more comfortable and less intrusive.

“It addresses a need for a specific population of people who want to track and measure, but in a different way.”

Apple has also consistently released smart ring patents in recent years.

Apples patent is titled “Devices, Methods, and User Interfaces for a Portable Electronic Ring Computing Device.”

It contains drawings of the potential design and intended frames functions such as a rechargeable power source and a wireless transceiver.

The finger ring design includes a touchscreen, voice commands, hand gesture controls and more.

The ring is designed to be worn on one finger and does not appear to be a standalone product.

Instead, it aims to improve the user experience of larger devices like iPhone and iPad.

The ring device can be used to control your other devices without touching them, especially in a dangerous situation to get help.

But the two rival tech giants are not the first to delve into the development of smart rings.

Oura rings laid the groundwork for the market when they first introduced the gadget in 2016.

The Oura Ring has research-grade sensors that track heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), personalized temperature, activity, stress and sleep monitoring technology.

But the device can be pricey and requires a monthly membership in addition to the ring.

While the compact nature of smart rings is attractive, they have less to offer than smart watches for a higher price tag.

They often come without a screen and GPS, and rely on an app on your mobile phone, making their functionality questionable.

But now that Samsung and Apple are entering the market, this could change quickly.
