Ariana Grande jokes about past makeup trends of ‘fat cat eyes’ and ‘puckered lips’ on TikTok

Ariana Grande made fun of her “old” self about her past makeup trends, like “thick cat eye,” in a video uploaded Saturday on her REM Beauty’s TikTok page.

The Side To Side hitmaker, 29, who has been busy filming the live adaptation of Wicked in England, was seen wearing a tank top while her locks were styled into a ponytail, leaving her bangs gently to the sides from her forehead fell.

The 14-second video began with her looking into the camera, cutting the clip to her “old” self and applying a thick layer of eyeliner.

She synced to the trending sound of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, a short conversation between Kim and her mom, Kris Jenner. “I’ve done my homework and I want to talk to you about something,” the singer said.

The reel then cut to the current Ariana wondering, “Do you think your eyes are a little too smoky for everyday?”

The TikTok then went back to her “old” self, lip-syncing with the response of, “Yeah, I’m going through a phase, is that okay?”

After saying herself, “Of course,” Grande added another quick eye roll to close the humorous video. In caption added to the clip, the singer wrote, “me to old me who wouldn’t be seen without a fat cat eye and an overly drawn lip.”

She also wrote in the caption, “Who else knows the feeling? makeup makes all the difference… but we will never get enough of #attheborderline eyeliner marker or lip pencil.’

Ariana’s REM Beauty brand was officially launched in November 2021 and includes a number of items such as eyeliner, highlighter, and different shades of lipstick.

Social media users jumped to the comment section to express their thoughts on the reference to her past makeup style, with one writing: “HELP THE SHADE AT 2019 ARI.”

Another fan typed, “this gets funnier every time I watch it,” followed by a crying face emoji. One follower added, “not an exaggerated lip. I’m so obsessed with you.’

Grande, who recently celebrated her two-year wedding anniversary with husband Dalton Gonzalez, has been busy on the set of the live adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked.

The former Nickelodeon actress has been cast in the lead role of Glinda, with other stars joining the cast such as Cynthia Erivo playing the Wicked Witch Of The West, Michelle Yeoh playing Madame Morrible and Jonathan Bailey playing Fiyero.

The premise of the film, which will be split into two separate films, follows the premise of “The story of how a green-skinned woman framed by the Wizard of Oz becomes the Wicked Witch of the West,” according to a IMDB synopsis.

Along with a star-studded cast, Jon M. Chu directs the project and is known for his work on films such as In The Heights.

At CinemaCon in April, Chu opened up about the film adaptation, revealing that the use of CGI or blue screen on set is not used for “a fully immersive experience,” per Weekly entertainment.

He also explained that “Emerald City is a world that can only be realized on film.” The movie is currently being filmed on location in England and new epic shots were taken from the Shiz University set late last month in May.

Also in April, he uploaded two first-look photos of both Ariana and Glinda in a flowing pink dress and Cynthia in her full witch costume as Elphaba.

The first part will premiere in theaters on November 27, 2024, and the second half is scheduled for December 2025.
