Ariel Winter admitted he mistook cyclist Lance Armstrong for the late astronaut Neil Armstrong during Monday’s season premiere on Stars On Mars on Fox.

The 25-year-old Modern Family star was one of 12 celebrities to join a habitat in Australia, including 51-year-old Lance.

When Ariel met Lance, she said she was surprised to see a “real astronaut” join them, drawing a puzzled look from fellow contestant Porsha Williams Guobadia, 41.

Lance Armstrong is a real f***ing astronaut. Google him. He’s so cool,” Ariel said.

The disgraced cyclist Lance, meanwhile, admitted that people in their twenties often confuse him with Neil Armstrong.

“I’d be dead,” Lance said.

Porsha was later pulled aside by Ariel who admitted her mistake.

“I just realized I made a big mistake,” Ariel said.

“Who did you think he was?” Porsha asked.

“Neil Armstrong,” Ariel replied, causing Porsha to burst out laughing.

“That’s funny,” said Tinashe, 30, when she learned of Ariel’s mistake.

Ariel said in a confessional that her fears had come true.

“That was part of my fear of coming on this show, that I would say something stupid and I literally… I outdid myself,” Ariel said.

“Don’t take yourself too seriously,” Porsha advised.

Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon in 1969 and died in 2012 at the age of 82.

Ariel was nominated as “base commander” on the show, but she quickly turned it down.

“My biggest fear is failure,” Ariel revealed.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse, 33, was “extracted” on the season premiere when he became the first celebrity to be eliminated.

Vanderpump Rules star Tom Schwartz, 40, was about to be eliminated at the end of the hour-long show, along with Christopher and figure skater Adam Rippon, 33, but he was deemed “mission critical” and remained with Adam on the show.

Marshawn Lynch, 37, was the crew’s first “base commander” and enjoyed his own private quarters and bathroom.

Famous astronauts also included: Ronda Rousey, Tallulah Willis, Richard Sherman, and Natasha Leggero.

Stars On Mars returns next week on Fox.
