The uniforms the Australian basketball team will wear on court at the Paris Olympics have not been well received by the players, with superstar Josh Giddey calling them an ‘absolute joke’.

Photos of the kit were posted on social media on Wednesday and it didn’t take long for players and fans to respond.

NBA player Josh Giddey wrote, “lol absolute joke,” while Jock Landale commented, “Looks like we’re about to throw a javelin.”

Former Boomers and NBA star Andrew Bogut suggested, “AOC had Stevie Wonder do the uniforms.”

Players manager Daniel Moldovan also gave a scathing review of the uniforms.

“Let’s just get it straight – another shame for a team full of NBA players at the peak of their sport,” he said.

‘Our boys dress up as marathon runners. If there’s any truth to the old adage, “Look good, feel good,” then our boys are going to feel like crap.

‘We are an international laughing stock. Whoever greenlit these marathon runner uniforms for the Boomers should have their citizenship revoked.

‘What the hell is this?.’

Boomers fans were also unimpressed with the design, calling it “plain” and looking like “Bali knockoffs.”

NBL star Alan Williams was shocked by the design, saying they ‘couldn’t be real’.

Basketball journalist Benyam Kidane joked: ‘No, this is disrespectful. Boomers are going to take home the gold in the decathlon.”

The Boomers’ Olympic campaign in Paris officially kicks off on July 27, with the team also playing warm-up matches against Japan, China, Serbia and the USA in the lead-up to the Olympics.
