Back to the drawing board! These pointless structures failed at the design stage
It’s easy to take the everyday things in life for granted, but when we really look at how ordinary objects in the world are designed, it becomes clear that a huge amount of effort goes into getting them just right and ensuring they that they are easy to use.
However, this is not always the case – and sometimes it is clear that the design phase of some of the objects we see all the time has been poorly thought out.
People from all over the world have taken to Pinterest to share hilarious design mistakes they’ve noticed, which have been collected into a gallery by Cheezburger.com.
They included a wheelchair ramp, intended to increase accessibility for all, which ultimately led people to three very inaccessible steps.
One person saw a barrier in a parking garage that was intended to control the flow of people using the space and increase safety. However, the barrier itself was ridiculously easy to bypass, rendering it completely useless.

And in a children’s playground, a gate was installed that people could walk through to enter the space – but the person who took the photo discovered a glaring flaw in the design, because the gate was open and very easy to walk around.
